Certifications are important for some Pharmacovigilance jobs as company don’t want to give associates basic Pharmacovigilance trainings. Otherwise they have to teach freshers what is Pharmacovigilance which is quite time consuming in the initial stage of career.
This is high time that syllabus should include practical knowledge of industry specific requirements. A student when come out of college, should know what is regulatory affair, what is the drug approval process in India as well in other countries. They should know how Pharmacovigilance work. In college should know all the career path they want to choose and they can select an optional subject in their final year. If any government personnel is reading this blog I highly urge you to work on it and it will definitely help Indian student not only in India but across the globe.
In most of the companies, people are working for international markets, so along with Indian regulations, they should also have basic knowledge of regulation at least of developed countries.
Pharmacovigilance is a vast subject but for job only basic information is necessary. Twoo weeks to two months are enough for these courses. Don’t go for Masters or 1 year 2 year courses atleast in India.
